About The Band

The Ernesto Marquez Sextet plays a variety of timeless Jazz standards, similar in style to musicians such as Carlos Jobim and Stan Getz, which are enjoyable for both the casual listener or the Jazz aficionado. Our music is dynamic, combining complex rhythms and textured melodies arranged for our blend of saxophone, trumpet, keyboard, bass, drums and vocals. Our members have played professionally for many years in Austin and Boston, and several of us have other music projects. Our selection of music includes songs to showcase our female vocalist, as well as instrumentals to allow the band to solo in the creative style that is the foundation of Jazz.

The Ernesto Marquez Sextet strives to bring a festive, lively ambiance to any venue, without being too loud or obtrusive. If the audience wants to dance, we'll give them something to get them on the dance floor. If the audience only wants to mingle and converse, we'll provide background atmosphere. We are always pleased to be present at any venue, and we're ready to provide the music to fit any event - romantic, elegant, tasteful, or simply fun.
